Collector Appraisement West Dr Farid Qureshi reviews performance of staffers at KICT

KARACHI: The Collector Customs Collectorate Appraisement West Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has held a meeting with officials of Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) in order to ensure smooth and timely clearance of the imported consignments.

During the meeting, the collector was briefed on the status of the containers and import consignments at KICT. The meeting was also attended by the additional collectors, deputy collectors and assistant collectors.

On the occasion, Dr Iqbal also issued directives for the deployment of the skilled and competent labour at the terminal so that the off-loading of the import containers could be done smoothly without any delay.

The officials of terminal operator were of the view that the working at terminal is being continued smoothly and grounding of import containers is being done as routine.

The authorities of the Collectorate were also briefed the collector about the back-log of the containers at KICT, adding that the Customs authorities deputed at terminal including the staffers of examination and assessment with their all out efforts have almost erase the pendency at terminal and nearly around 20per cent pendency and back-log is remained at KICT.

The Collector Appraisement (West) Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has expressed his satisfaction over the working of authorities concerned of terminal operators and Customs officers at KICT adding that he asked the authorities to ensure facilitation to the trade for increasing the revenue collection while remaining within the legal ambit.
