Mianwali ASO impounds non-duty paid Mitsubishi

FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Faisalabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized a non-duty paid Mitsubishi jeep. The market value of the seized vehicle is Rs 725,400 involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 325,400.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO team comprising Superintendents Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar Azhar Hussain Jafri, Inspectors Muhammad Omar Bhatti, Sher Ahmad, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Yousaf (sepoys) and Riasat Hussain (driver), during their routine checking, found a Mitsubishi Pajero jeep bearing registration No, BD-9873 Sindh near Toll Plaza MM Alam Road Mianwali.

The ASO Superintendent asked the accused person namely Ghulam Sbbas son of Wahid Buksh who is a resident of Kot Adu district Muzaffargarh to show legal documents regarding import of the vehicle but he failed to show any relevant documents except bogus copy of registration book. The ASO taem seized the vehicle under section 2(s), read with SRO.566(1)2005 section 16, and 18 of the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication department for legal action.
