FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Faisalabad’s Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) foiled almost nine attempts of smuggling and seized items worth Rs 12.3 million in September 2016.
Talking to Customs Today, Faisalabad Customs Collector Chaudhary Zulfikar Ali appreciated the performance of the ASO, adding that the Collectorate is improving its performance over the time by adopting effective strategies against the smuggling outfits.

As per the details, the ASO impounded five non-duty paid vehicles in September worth Rs 4,900,000 and also impounded vehicle being used for transportation of smuggled goods worth Rs 1,000,000. The ASO team also confiscated foreign origin cloth worth Rs 1,331,330, tyres tubes worth Rs 310,000 and confiscated miscellaneous items on the order of Faisalabad Collectorate worth Rs 4,784,612 during the said period.
To another query, Collector Chudhary Zulfikar hoped that the collectorate would achieve 100 percent target of revenue collection by the end of current fiscal year under all heads. The ASO team who seized smuggled goods consisted Superintendent Muhammad Saeed Akhtar Joiya Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, and Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.
Faisalabad ASO seized items under Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under section 156(1)89(i) 90 of Customs Act 1969 and forward the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action. All these items were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.
