Islamabad Dry Port exceeds customs duty collection target of October 2016-17

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Dry Port exceeded its collection target under the head of customs duty by collecting Rs 261 million against the target of Rs 225 million set by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for October 2016-17.

Talking with Customs Today, Assistant Collector Amanat Ali Khan said that the FBR set the target of customs duty for the month of October 2016-17 at Rs 225 million but the Islamabad Dry Port collect Rs 36 million more than the given target.

Amanat said that during thee first quarter, the dry port collected Rs 170 million more customs duty as compared to the collection of the last financial year 2015-16.

He said that during the first quarter of 2016-17, the dry port collected customs duty amounting to Rs 594 million.

He said that dry port collected Rs 232 million in the wake of sales tax during first quarter 2016-17 and Rs 68 million collected as federal excise duty (FED) and Rs 163 million collected as withholding tax during the first quarter of financial year 2016-17.

He said that all staff of dry port performed their duties as per routine during recently political crisis in the capital and they showed excellent performance in achieving revenue collection target under the head of customs duty for the month of October 2016-17.
