Peshawar Customs Intelligence collects Rs 39.99m through auction from July to November

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar collected a revenue of Rs 39.99 million through auction of non-duty paid goods and vehicles during first four and half months (from July to November) of the current financial year 2016-17.

Sources of Customs Intelligence told Customs Today that during first four and half month of current financial year, the I&I collected handsome amount through auction of confiscated non-duty paid and offending vehicles besides smuggled goods.

He said that during the above period Customs I&I collected Rs.31.04 million through auction of seized smuggled goods, while Rs.8.34 million were generated under the head of sales tax through auction of goods and vehicles.

Sources further said that during the above said period Customs I&I collected revenue of Rs.0.61 under the head of total federal excise duty on imported smuggled goods through auction of confiscated vehicles and seized smuggled goods.

Sources adding that Peshawar I&I had seized smuggled goods worth Rs.74 million during first four month of financial year 2016-17 adding that during the month of October 2016-17 Customs I&I seized different type of smuggled goods under value of Rs.24 million.

Sources further said that in its ongoing campaign against smuggling in respect of narcotics and drugs, Customs Intelligence Peshawar is extending full assistance to law enforcement agencies to curb the smuggling trends in the region.
