FBR’s Automatic Exchange of Information project meeting today

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the project team for Automatic Exchange of Information of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will be held in FBR House today (Wednesday).

Sources told Customs Today that during the meeting, participants will review different recommendations and suggestions finalized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The suggestions were finalized to submit to the United Kingdom’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange for the exchange of tax related information. Chief Customs International Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Yousafani will preside over the meeting while representatives from State Bank of Pakistan will also attend the meeting.

Sources said that all necessary appointments of other key posts of this pilot project are almost completed and Member Inland Revenue Policy Rehmatullah Khan Wazir will also attend the meeting. The team will brief Member Inland Revenue Policy about progress of Automatic Exchange of Information project. It is necessary to mention here that through this forum Pakistan will be able to collect relevant information about banking and accounting system through legal channels.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan became member of global forum on September 13. There are 104 countries who are member of this forum and members of OECD are authorized to get relevant tax related information from other member countries.
