FBR chairman Nisar directs stern action against tax evaders

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has directed all the Regional Tax Offices, Large Taxpayers Units (LTU) and corporate tax units to take stern action against tax evaders.

He also directed the Director General Directorate Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue to make a list of tax evaders and launch a joint operation against them.

Sources told Customs Today that it has come into the knowledge of the FBR that some corporate sector companies and few segments from industries side are involve in large scale tax evasion.

The FBR chairman has said that the volume of tax evasion is much larger than expected. No concession will be given to the tax evaders. He also directed there should be no harassment, injustice and misuse of powers against tax evaders, and action be taken after taking trade bodies or chambers of commerce into the confidence.

“If any official tries to misuse the powers, I will take action against him,” said the chairman. Through this action, the FBR expects that more than 30 billion revenue will be collect.
