Peshawar Customs I&I collects Rs 159m in 2Q of FY2016-17

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Peshawar collected revenue of Rs.159 million during 2nd quarter, which comprises October to December financial year (FY) 2016-17 and registered 110 cases against the possessors of NDP vehicles and smuggled goods.

According to details forwarded by Mohammad Saleem, Director I&I Peshawar, that during the abovementioned period, the directorate confiscated huge quantity of non-duty paid (NDP) various kinds of goods and a number of vehicles involved in smuggling in the jurisdiction of I&I Peshawar. The directorate also collected handsome revenue from the area.

The Director I&I said the Collectorate collected revenue of Rs.42 million by impounding 33 offending vehicles and registered FIRs against possessors adding that offending vehicles were playing a main role in facilitating smuggling activities, so the I&I took strict actions against them to prevent smuggling trends.

Muhammad Saleem said the I&I Peshawar collected revenue of Rs.40 million during 2nd quarter of Financial Year 2016-17 and registered 33 FIRs against the possessors of NDP vehicles adding the possession of NDP vehicles were damaging the economy of the country.

He said that during the 2nd quarter of FY16-17, the Directorate of I&I collected revenue of Rs.77 million and registered 44 cases against the smugglers of miscellaneous goods.
