Customs Intelligence seizes LCDs, monitors worth Rs1.787m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 1.787 million, involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs5,77,107 during a road checking.

Sources told Customs Today that the intelligence team following the directions of Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain conducted raid to foil smuggling attempt in the region.

The Customs Intelligence impounded a Trailer bearing Registration No, TLE-558 loaded near pansera Jhang Road, Faisalabad loaded with 545 pieces of foreign origin, LCDs, Monitors of different brand and size.

The officials asked the driver named Muhammad javed son of Khudah Bukhsh residential Tehsil/District Bakhar to show documents regarding legal import of the items on which. ON this he produced a Goods Declaration No, KPPI-HC- 33202 dated 25-11-2016 showing clearance of computers systems etc from port qasim karachi by M/S AJ international Millat town Faisalabad and bilty No, 3903 issued by M/S H.S international transport and Co ( Regd ), Gate number-3 new truck stand Hawksbay road karachi ( consigner khurram and consignee A.J international ).

The officials found discrepancies while examining the documents and recovered goods; therefore, they confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.

The intelligence officers, including Superintendent Fareed Ud Masood, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir iqbal, Intelligence Officers, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Saleem, and sepoys Liaqat Ali, Shouqat Hayat, Muhammad iqbal, muzamil Hussain, Israr Ahmed participated in the raids. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
