NAB committed to eradicating corruption, says Chairman Qamar Zaman

LAHORE: Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB, chaired a meeting to review the latest progress on NAB Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) at the NAB Headquarters. In line with the initiatives of the chairman NAB, Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) was introduced in the NAB headquarters and NAB regional bureaus to evaluate the performance of the NAB in quantitative and qualitative manners.

During the meeting, Advisor to Chairman on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) gave a presentation regarding the latest progress on the MES in line with the decisions taken in the previous meeting held on December 01, 2016 about its efficacy in future.

He informed Customs Today that on the directions of Chairman, NAB, an effective Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) has been developed, including complaint entry, complaint verification, inquiry, investigation, prosecution stage and record proceedings of the regional board and executive board’s meetings.

The chairman NAB said that an effective accountability mechanism is quintessential for economic growth, investment and stability of social order.

He said the Monitoring and Evaluation System (MES) is very important management tool to monitor progress and it facilitates decisionmaking as well as establishes links between the past, present and future actions. The chairman reiterated that the NAB is committed to eradicating corruption by adopting ‘zero tolerance policy’. He appreciated the work done by the MES team under the supervision of Advisor to Chairman on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E).

The chairman asked the senior Member, Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team, (CI&MT) to start annual inspection of all the regional bureaus of the NAB from the first week of January 2017 besides reviewing performance of all the wings of the NAB regional bureaus.
