Faisalabad Customs impounds worth Rs6.7m smuggled goods & trailer

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded smuggled goods and a trailer valued Rs6.7million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs776392 during a road checking. The value of the trailer is Rs300000.

According to details, following directions of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, the team conducted a raid to foil the smuggling attempt.

The Customs Intelligence impounded the trailer loaded with smuggled items on Jhumra Road Faisalabad. The team recovered used personal computer system ( 910-sets), Used CPU (390-Pcs), used CPU without hard disk (246-Pcs ), hard disk (121-Pcs ), LCD monitor (310-Pcs), Laptop and bags ( 1200-Pcs ) and other items.

The officials asked driver Muhammad Rizwan to show the documents regarding the legal import of the items but he failed. The officials confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act-1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act-1969.

The intelligence officers, including Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Muhammad Saifullah, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officers Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir and Sepoys Ajamal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad, took part in the raid. However seizure reports have been submitted to the Adjudication Department for further legal action.
