Sialkot ASO impounds worth Rs13million goods & trucks from Jan to Feb 15

SIALKOT: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Sailkot has impounded smuggled Indian origin cloths and cumin seeds including non-duty paid Hino truck and Dumper truck worth Rs13million from January till February 15, 2017.

Official sources told Customs Today on the other day that Collector MCC Sialkot Ahmed Reza Khan received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts. Under the directions of Collector, Assistant Collector and ASO In-charge Ali Mohatashim Minhas ordered Superintendent Sardar Manzoor to constitute a team who did it under the supervision of Inspectors Ali Hassan and Aftab Ahmed.

The ASO team established various check-points on different roads of Gujranwala Region and started checking of vehicles. During a checking, the ASO team recovered non-duty paid Indian origin cloths and cumin seeds worth Rs04million including duty and tax valued Rs02million along with a Hino truck worth Rs07million. The value of the Dumper is Rs06million.

The ASO team has registered separate cases of seizing of cloths and cumin seeds as well as trucks. The team has referred the cases to the Adjudication Court for proceeding. The team has also issued legal notices to the manager of truck stands. The team seized the items under the Kashmir Transit Trade Agreement.
