Irrigation Dept recovers over Rs 54m abiana from growers

MULTAN: Irrigation Department has recovered about Rs 54 million water rates (abiana) from growers during Rabbi Season 2015-16 and Khareef-2016 across Irrigation Multan zone.

According to irrigation sources on Saturday, the teams had recovered water rates Abiana over Rs 11 million from Multan district, Rs 469,499 from Lodhran, over Rs 30 million abiana from Vehari and over Rs 10 million from Pakpatan district during the first four months of Rabbi season from 1st July to January 31. Similarly, Rs 1136161 water charges (tawan) was also collected from four districts under Irrigation Multan zone including Rs 911,895 from Lodhran, Rs 159,000 from Vehari, Rs 65,266 from Pakpatan while no recovery was reported from Multan district during first five months of the Rabbi season 2015-16 and Khareef-2016, sources concluded.
