Faisalabad ASO impounds fork-lifter worth Rs01million

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad impounded a non-duty paid foreign origin fork lifter. The market value of the said lifter is Rs01million, also involving duty of Rs350000.

Deputy Collector Customs Muhammad Rizwan received a tip-off about the smuggling of a non duty paid fork-lifter in the city. He immediately constituted a raiding party comprising Superintendent Saeed Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Mehmood Dogar, Ali Zahid, Muhammad Khalid, Muhammad Afzaal, Muhammad Ashraf, Zulfiqar Ali Awan, Muhammad Naeem and Muhammad Yasin and started searching vehicles in different areas in the city.

While searching, the ASO team intercepted a fork-lifter with chassis No: 5FG30-10304 near Shahianwala Faisalabad. The ASO team asked the driver to provide legal documents regarding the legal possession of fork-lifter. The driver, who was later identified as Zafar Iqbal khan son of Shehmer Khan, tehsil silanwali district Sargodha, failed to provide any required document to the ASO team.

After his failure, the ASO team impounded the non-duty paid fork-lifter and registered a case against the accused. The case has been forwarded to the customs adjudication.
