Faisalabad customs confiscates smuggled grey fabrics valued Rs 01.7m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized grey fabrics (Chiffon) during a crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today that Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari received a tip-off about some smuggling attempts. He formed a customs team comprising Tahir Iqbal (SIO), Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Saddique (IO and Sepoys Liaqat Ali, Shouqat Hayat and Israr Ahmed.

The customs team started checking of vehicles and intercepted a Mazda Mini truck No: LRJ-6561 near Khurrianwala Toll Plaza Faisalabad. The truck was found loaded with foreign origin (F/O) grey fabrics (Chiffon) weighed 1715 kg. Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari asked the driver, Muhammad Umar son of Basharat Ali, a resident of Lahore, to produce the legal documents regarding the import of grey fabrics. The driver produced different bilties issued by M/s Sadat Cargo Forwarding Agency Lahore on the spot. However he failed to produce any legal document.

The value of the smuggled cloths is Rs01.7million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs795236. The customs team seized the cloths and sent a report to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
