PESHAWAR: The Web Based One Customs System brought an increase to generate 15-20 percent more revenue than the collection made when the cell was not fully operational in Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar.
The official of WeBOC Cell in Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar stated on Monday that the MCC Peshawar has issued notices to 1600 WeBOC importers to provide complete details and information about the exporters and manufacturers along with personal status about the imports from the exporters which will be required for verification of filing entry with the WeBOC Cell.
The credit for centralization of records in MCC Peshawar goes to Collector Qurban Ali Khan for which he has done excellent work to establish the WeBOC Cell at the MCC Peshawar to operate modern ways of customs for facilitation of trade and traders through this route, the sources added.
The collector to detect the importers who failed to provide complete documents for cross border trade for last many years and have caused millions of loss to the national exchequer and get authentic information about the imports and importers had directed the authorities to search for the WeBOC importers who haven’t provided much needed records.
The sources said the importers were notified to provide complete details about imports and also file a data about the exporters to centralize the records at the WeBOC Cell at Peshawar to enhance the system to generate more revenue for MCC Peshawar.
The importers were asked to provide details about the logo of the company from which goods had been imported and two passports and a verification letter from chamber of Commerce and Industry of due jurisdiction.
Such requirement needs to fully install records in the WeBOC system to carry out audit in the number of importers and also point out those importers who are less interested in the process to provide complete trade records and requirements by the modern customs tools.
The WeBOC Station needs appreciation as it brought the records and details of importers and imports to detect the goods or imports of goods from unauthorized exporters and stop ways for importers who import goods from unregistered importers.
The notices have made the importers to submit the details, and 25 percent importers have responded to the notices and provided the required details at the WeBOC Cell in MCC Peshawar.
Before the WeBOC Cell, the exemption of withholding tax was used to be granted on submitting hard copy of exemption certificate to the PRAL key punch operator, which entered that number manually and importer used to get exemption.
Now the system has evolved and the importers have to submit details through email which consists of six papers including additional three pages by the WeBOC Cell to meet the required demands.
