Hyderabad customs impounds Iranian juice valued Rs01.2m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigations Hyderabad seized 1200 crates of non-duty-paid Rani Juice during an operation. The market value of the seized items is Rs01.2million involving duty and taxes of Rs289058.

Deputy Director Haroon Waqar Malik received a tip-off regarding the transportation of smuggled items via bypass Hyderabad. Haroon Waqar Malik immediately constituted a team comprising Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Intelligence Officers Irfan Ghani, Ahmed Hussain Junejo, Sepoys Moin Ahmed Khan, Ghayas Ahmed Shah, Aslam Chohan, Musarat Shah, Muhammad Imran, Noshad Khan, Azam Ali Chandio and Driver Janib Kurb.

The FIU team set up a checkpoint at bypass and started searching vehicles. The FIU team intercepted a public transport vehicle with registration No: TLH-936 and recovered 1200 crates of foreign origin non–duty-paid Rani juice. The goods were being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad.

The FIU team asked the driver of the offending vehicle to provide legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of the items but he failed to do so. The FIU team seized the non-duty-paid items and registered a case of smuggling against the accused.

The FIU team deposited the seized items into the customs warehouse and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceeding.
