KARACHI: Customs (Taxation & Anti-Smuggling) Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has granted an interim pre-arrest bail to lady accused Rizwana w/o Muhammad Usman booked in a case of mis-declaration.
The court also directed the woman accused to join investigation if and when required by the investigation officer and appear before the court on the next date of hearing. The court also called the police papers and issued notice to special prosecutor for customs department.
During the hearing, above named lady accused appeared before the court along with her counsel and moved an application for pre-arrest bail. Counsel argued that she is innocent and was implicated in this case, so she is ready to face trail, however she has apprehension of arrest therefore court may grant her bail till the final disposal of this case.
After the hearing, court granted her bail and observed in its order that “Without touching the merits of the case, ad-interim pre-arrest bail is granted to lady accused to furnish surety in the sum of Rs200,000 each with P.R bond in the like amount to the satisfaction of this court.
According to the prosecution, cases were registered against accused in violation of section 16, 32 (1), 32 (2), 32A, 79 of the Customs Act-1969 punishable under clauses 9, 14, 14A, and 46 of section 156 (1) of the Customs Act-1969 read with Section 156 (1) of the Customs Act-1969 read with Import & Export (Control) Act- 1950.
