LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent three accused to jail on the extension of judicial remand for14 days in smuggling of Indian made Saris.
Three accused named Sajjad Qureshi, Abdul Sattar and Hammad Ahmad were arrested by the customs authorities when they were making an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Indian made saris into Pakistan. The value of the saris is Rs30million.
The investigation team of customs preventive produced them before the court of Shakeel Ahmad and asked for a three-day physical remand. The customs court handed them over to the investigation team for further investigation.
During the hearing of the case, accused Sajjad Qureshi asked for pardon from the court and said that this is their first mistake. The customs court, after hearing both parties, approved a 14-day judicial remand of the three and sent them to jail.
A case has been registered under the Pakistan Customs Act-969.
