Hyderabad Customs suffers Rs935m CD & Taxes deficit during June

HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad has generated Rs1716.821million Customs Duty and Taxes against the allocated target of Rs2651.51million during the month of June FY2017. So the collectorate has suffered a deficit of Rs935million.

The department collected Rs571.357million Customs Duty, Rs1112.774million Sales Tax, Rs2.608million Federal Excise Duty (Special FED) and Rs30.082million Withholding Tax (WHT) during the abovementioned period.

The MCC Hyderabad received Rs1716.821million during the month of June FY 2017 whereas the assigned targets were Rs539.31million Customs Duty (CD), Rs2071million Sales Tax (ST), Rs42million Federal Excise Duty (FED) and Rs37million Withholding Tax (WHT).

The major tax sources were dry port, Hyderabad state warehouse, Hyderabad Sukkur and Larkana Division, Huffaz Seamless Pipe Industries, Crescent Steel, Omni Polymer Industries, Rema Cooking Oil and Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

Under the supervision of Hyderabad Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro, Deputy Collector Mushtaq Shahani, Principal Appraiser Mashuq Ali Panhwar and others played an important role in revenue collection, officials said. They added that the anti-smuggling campaign was in full swing in the region following the direction of the Federal Board of Revenue Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq  to streamline the national economy.

The ASO also foiled various smuggling attempts and made big seizures including non-duty paid vehicles, different cigarettes, Rani juice, auto parts, car air-conditioners’ compressors, sports goods, mobile accessories, fireworks, dry milk powder, tyres & tubes, electronic items including laptops, note books, hard dicks, projectors of LED TVs high definition, digital satellites, receiver laptops, toiletries, Gutka, Iranian diesel HSD and other goods worth millions of rupees.
