Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue resumes hearing  on tax matter of M/s Huawei Technologies

Customs Appellate Tribunal dismisses appeal filed by M/s Fast Cables

LAHORE: Customs Appellate Tribunal has maintained the order of Assessing Officers and dismissed appeal filed by the M/s Fast Cables Limited against Collector of Customs (Appeals) Lahore.

According to the precise fact of the case, an importer M/s Fast Cables Limited has importer electrolytic copper rod 8MM diameter from home consumption and sought clearance under PCT heading 7407.1020 attracting customs duty @ 5 percent. Department fanalize assessment in the light of examination report that imported goods attracting customs duty @ 10 percent instead of @ 5 percent.

Feeling aggrieved from the order, the assessment order challenged before the next judicial forum who also passed the order against the appellant.

The appellant filed the case before the customs Appellate Tribunal and produce all recored that showing the goods are imported lawfully and customs duty paid as per the rules. Appellant mentioned in the appeal the order passed by the assessment officer not according the law and liable to set aside.

After hearing the arguments from the appellant as respondent side, Customs Appellate Tribunal has decided the case that appeal is dismissed and initial order passed by the learned assessing officers are maintained. Also maintained in the judgment that importer is liable to pay customs duty @ 10 percent instead of @ 5 percent.
