The members of the committee were informed that there were around 135 million cell phone users in the country.

The meeting also discussed the payment of pensions to the retired employees of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust managing director told the committee that a court had sought details of retired employees and their outstanding dues from the PTCL.

He said the court had ordered the company to pay the pensions, and the pensioners were receiving them as well. However, he added that the pensions had not been increased by 20% as was decided.
