Appraisement East detects tax evasion of Rs 6.78m by M/s JAKI Traders

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate of Appraisement East has unearthed tax evasion of Rs 6.78 million during the clearance of different kinds of machinery parts, nut bolts and other iron goods by M/s JAKI Traders Karachi.

Source told Customs Today that Collector Appraisement East Ashad Jawwad directed the R&D section to verify the post clearance consignments of M/s JAKI Traders. During the scrutiny of import data, it was found that the said importer willfully used Green Channel in the clearance of consignments of different kinds of machinery parts, nut bolts and other iron goods and caused a loss of Rs 6.78 million to the national exchequer in terms of duty and taxes.

The sources further informed that a recovery notice has been sent to the importer. The R&D sources said that the importer has also assured that it will deposit the evaded amount of Rs 6.78 million within seven days.

Earlier the Customs Collectorate of Appraisement East has unearthed tax evasion of Rs 3.50 million during the clearance of fancy jewelry boxes and show piece items by M/s Aslam Handicrafts Karachi

Source said 16 more cases are still under investigation by Customs Collectorate of Appraisement East,  Collectorate will issue notices soon.
