Customs Court calls prosecution witnesses in mis-declaration case

KARACHI: The Customs Taxation & Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi called prosecution witnesses against suspect namely Rana Imtiaz Ashraf of M/s Dua Enterprises who was booked in a mis-declaration case.

According to the prosecution, case was registered against Rana Imtiaz Ashraf of M/s Dua Enterprises, Muhammad Pervaiz Bahir, Directors of M/s Friend Logistics Pvt Ltd, Muhammad Bilal, Umar Shinwary and others for mis-declaration.

Case was registered for violation of under section 2 (s) 16, 32 (1) (12) and 192 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses 8, 14, 63, 86 and 89 ibid read with SRO 566 (1)/2005 dated 06/06/2005 and section 3 (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1950 read with serial no 23 & 24 of appendix-A of import policy and further read with section 148 of the income tax ordinance 2001.

Earlier, counsel for the above mentioned accused appeared before the court and moved bail petition, he argued that his client is innocent and was falsely been implicated in this case, who is ready to face trail, therefore, court may grant him bail till final order of in this case.

After the arguments, court had granted his bail and issued notices to the special prosecutor for customs department and investigation officer and court directing them to file comments on next date of hearing.
