Mianwali ASO seizes NDP goods Rs2m during crackdown

MIANWALI: The Model Customs Collectorate Field of Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali has seized a non duty paid different items worth Rs2,016,000 involving customs duty and taxes of Rs456,811.

Sources told Customs Today, that ASO team comprising Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Umar Bhatti, Muhammad Munawar Rathore, inspector and sepoy Ghulam Sarwar Shah, Said Rasool, Riaz Ahmed, Ziaul Hassan during their routine checking near Chapri Hotel intercepted trailer bearing registration no: TLC-565 loaded with smuggled Wells Almond oil 800 liters, Cobra Spray 4800 pieces foreign origin fuel filters 960 pieces in Lipon Group.

The ASO Superintendent asked the accused person namely Abdul Jabbar son of Idrees Muhammad resident Farooqabad Mainwali to show legal documents regarding import of the items. But he failed to produce any relevant legal documents.

Furthermore,the ASO seized the all items under section 2(s), read with SRO.566(1)2005 section 16, and 18 of the Customs Act 1969 section 3 of Sales Tax Act 1990 and section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and forward the case to Customs Adjudication department for legal action.
