M/s Raheem and Sons imported a consignment of different types of laptop and computer accessories including mother boards, TV tuner cards, processors and more items from UK & got them cleared by mis-declaring the classification under the Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) by the hand of examiner Salahuddin on October 16, 2017.

The company allegedly availed undue and inadmissible benefit as well as exemption of sales tax. It is pertinent to mention here that processor itself has imported identical/same goods under the correct PCT heading 2306.3306. Apart from it, all other importers of different kinds of used laptop and different kinds of computer accessories including mother boards have either been declared by the importers or assessed by the collectorates.

Source said the Customs Adjudication-I investigated 12 more cases of defaulter companies and, after investigation, adjudication concerned will issue a show cause and final notices to these defaulter companies in the current month.
