ISLAMABAD: FBR Member Customs Zahid Khokhar stated that the National Single Window (NSW) system will become operational by the end of next year 2019.

Addrssing a two-day conference at a local hotel, the Member FBR said that the system will be implemented in different phases and the whole NSW system will be fully implemented in five years from 2018 to 2023. He said that the USAID has provided money for getting this NSW system and it will be linked with the customs clearance system known as WeBoC.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced the National Single Window (NSW) software system for trade facilitation by reducing the average cost of clearing one container at ports from existing above $700 to almost half as well as slashing down the clearance time significantly.
The NSW system, which is being implemented in more than 70 countries all around the globe, will connect 37 ministries, departments and regulators within the country through online software and also connect the regional states to overcome the threat of overinvoicing at the import stage. Alone in case of China, Pakistan is facing loss of $4 to $6billion on this account on annual basis.
The FBR in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) arranged a two-day conference on the establishment of a National Single Window (NSW) for trade. The NSW will allow parties involved in trade and transport to file the standardized information and documents at a single entry point for all import, export, and transit-related regulatory requirements.
