Import of unmanned aircraft system/unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs)/ remotely piloted aircraft/drones is restricted in Pakistan due to hostile security situation in the country.

Pakistan Customs has banned the import of drone’s cameras for last few years on the recommendation of security departments. The said branded drone’s cameras were imported through online shopping from China and they were imported for commercial purposes. Different consigners were found in the receipt of import of foreign origin drone cameras.

Drones are being considered a major security risk as they could be used by terror groups for mounting assaults in the country.

Drones have already been included in the prohibited list and flyers entering Pakistan will have to declare them and requires special permission for it. Drones are generally imported by government agencies for use by the security personnel in maintaining law and order as well as ensuring vigil along the international borders and line of control with Afghanistan, India and Iran.
