Pakistan Coast Guards foils smuggling attempts, arrests 10

KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) has arrested 10 smugglers and recovered narcotics and smuggled goods worth millions of rupees from their possession during the last 15 days.

Giving details, PCG’s spokesman said that five illegal immigrants were also arrested during the period.

“40kg hashish and 2kg of opium were seized from smugglers during the search of passenger coaches at Naka Khari chek post (Balochistan) while 23.500 kg hashish was recovered during the search of vehicles at superhighway near Karachi,” he added.

PCG teams have also recovered smuggled tires, mobile phones from foreign brand cigarettes, betel nuts, and gutka.

Five people were also arrested from Pak-Iran border. They were trying to enter Iran without legal documents and further investigations are underway.
