KARACHI: Customs Adjudication-I showed brilliant performance during the month of May. The Adjudication department recovered Rs87.63 million from defaulters companies.
On Saturday, Customs Adjudication-I recovered Rs 4.62 million from M/s Zubair Sanitary and Export , and served a final notice on a defaulter company named M/s Nimra Mujahid Fabrics, Karachi.
Sources told Customs Today that defaulter company M/s Zubair Sanitary and Export got cleared a consignment of fancy basons and its parts, floor tiles, showers, kitchen accessories and imported water pipes on January 22, 2018 and evaded a tax amount of Rs4.62 million.
After the investigation, the Customs Adjudication-I served a show cause notice to the company in the end of April 2018 but it failed to clear the outstanding tax amount.
The collector Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on 22nd May, 2018. After receiving the notice, the company deposited Rs4.62 million in favor of the customs department on 1st June 2018.
Another Company M/s Nimra Mujahid Fabrics, Karachi was allegedly involved in tax evasion. The company imported different types of Silk fabrics and Special needles on December 6, 2017 by the Examiner Saleem Aiwan and used the wrong PCT heading.
After scrutinizing import data, the Customs Adjudication-I issued a final notice to the company on June 1st 2018, according to final notice defaulter company is directed to clear the outstanding amount of Rs 7.82 million within 14 days to avoid stern action.
