Multan NAB nabs 12 officials of district accounts office for corruption

MULTAN: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan arrested 12 officers belonging to the district accounts office over charges of corruption in Bahawalnagar.

NAB officials said that the officers were involved in corruption worth of millions of rupees. The accused had issued fake allowances and adjustment bills for ghost employees in the education department causing a loss of Rs190 million to the national exchequer. The said officers utilised the embezzled amount for their personal expenses. The accused will be presented in court for physical remand.

The accused were identified as Javed Akhtar, Maqsood, Muhammad Mukhtar, Fiaz Ahmad, Sajid and assistant accounts officers Abdul Sattar Farooqi and Naeem Ahmad, accounts officers Hassan Mehmood, Gulam Yaseen, Muhammad Iqbal Anjum, Nasrullah and Hamad Yaseen. NAB officials said that action against those involved in corrupt practices will continue without discrimination. They said that all-out efforts were being made to root out corruption from society.
