Customs Appellate Tribunal hears three references involving FBR field offices

ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal issued notices in three customs references filed against field offices of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Customs Appellate Tribunal’s single bench comprising Member Syed Muhammad Anwar heard the cases filed by M/s Lucky Enterprises and another by Haq Nawaz.

One of the cases had been filed during 2016. The cases were still pending with the tribunal. Earlier, these cases were heard by a single bench while now they were being heard by a division bench as per rules of tribunal.

M/s Lucky Enterprises had filed the case against MCC. It had challenged a customs duty assessment sustained by the adjudication.

Haq Nawaz had filed cases regarding release of vehicles which were seized by customs authorities amid attempt to smuggling various items.

Same bench had already heard a couple of cases involving seizure of mobile phones at the airport. Therefore, it was expected that the bench would soon decide fate of the case.
