Mianwali ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs18.75m

MIANWALI: The Anti Smuggling Organization seized smuggled foreign origin black tea, Pan Prag gutka, led pencil worth Rs18.75 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad received credible information about the smuggling of goods.

He immediately constituted a team comprising Superintendent Ghulam Jaffar, Inspector Tanveerul Haq, driver Riasat Hussain and Sepoy Saifullah, Ghulam Mohyuddin, Muhammad Yousaf Sher. Ahmed Faiz Ahmed. The team intercepted a vehicle which was loaded with goods.

The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding transportation of goods but he failed to do so. The ASO recovered 250 kilograms of black tea, Pan Prag gutka 150 kilograms and led pencil 19952 pieces.

The ASO team seized the goods and after registering a case against the owner of the goods forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
