SARA-I-MUHAJIR: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Field Investigation Unit (FIU) seizes foreign origin cigarettes and led pencils worth Rs1.3 million involving duty and taxes worth Rs5.4 million near Kotla Jam Chowk Bhakkar.
Sources told Customs Today that Anti-Smuggling Organization received credible information that huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes and led pencils will be smuggled from Karachi to Sara-i-Muhajir. On receiving the information, the ASO constituted a special team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamdani to thwart this attempt.
The special team intercepted passenger bus and seized foreign origin 20000 cigarettes and led pencils 17000 pieces. The ASO team asked driver and other passenger of the bus about the ownership of the loaded goods but no one was able to provide any information.
It is pertinent to mention here that the ASO has forwarded a seizure report to Customs adjudication for further legal action.
