Kohat Customs seizes Rs340m of foreign origin smuggled goods during 1Q

KOHAT: Customs Deputy Collector Kohat Mahmood Khattak said that Anti Smuggling Kohat has seized Rs 340 million of foreign origin smuggled goods during first quarter of FY2019-20 in anti-smuggling drive.

Talking with Customs Today, the Deputy Collector Preventive of ASO Kohat said that pursuing the directions of FBR, the Kohat Customs station seized huge quantity of NDP vehicles and other smuggled items comprising foreign origin cloth, electronics, food stuff, etc.

The Deputy Collector informed Customs Today that during first quarter especially in month of July FY2019-20 the ASO Kohat seized smuggled goods worth Rs 130.45 million in large crackdown on smugglers and tax evaders, adding that during month of August FY19-20 the ASO seized smuggled goods worth Rs100.68 million as well as the ASO Kohat seized smuggled goods worth Rs 109.53 in month of September FY19-20. In this way, the Kohat seized smuggled goods worth Rs 340.66 million during first quarter of FY19-20.

The Deputy Collector said, “We have been working hard with our own teams as well as coordinating with other law enforcement agencies, especially the police”, and added that the DPO Kohat has been very kind in extending his help in numerous cases during first quarter 19-20.
