Multan I&I seizes skimmed powder worth Rs2.5m

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized huge quantity of skimmed powder worth Rs2.5 million in their action.

According to details, Assistant Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Javed Raza received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled items transported through jurisdiction. Director Customs Intelligence Muhammad Adnan Akram alerted Customs Intelligence staff in Multan and directed them to enhance monitoring of suspected routes to foil any bid of smuggling in the region.

Customs Intelligence formed special team including Inspector Mohsin Shah, Inspector Umer, Zulfiqar and others to take action against smuggled goods. Following the directions of Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation, the team intercepted a suspected truck near Raja Pur Bypass road which was loaded with huge quantity of skimmed milk powder.

Field Intelligence Unit of Multan recovered 7000 kilograms of skimmed milk powder. The origin of recovered milk was China and they were smuggled through Afghanistan.

During investigation of Customs Intelligence driver of the truck told them that truck was coming from Quetta and its final destination was Faisalabad. Truck driver presented booking receipt of said goods to Customs Intelligence staff. Customs Intelligence unit of Multan seized the entire skimmed powder milk and shifted the skimmed powder milk along with truck to Customs Intelligence State Warehouse Rajapur Office.

Customs Intelligence seized the skimmed powder milk under customs act 1969 and further investigations regarding the skimmed powder milk were still under process.
