Faisalabad I&I seizes non-duty paid bed sheet cloth

FAISALABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation team raided a godown located in Industrial Estate and recovered foreign origin cloth bed sheets.

According to details an ASO team comprising Muhammad Saleem Saeed Hayat, Mansoor Nasir Muhammad Ramzan, Liaqat Ali, Israr Ahmed and others raided at Masha allah Godown opposite Ijaz Weaving Small Industrial Estate and seized huge quantity of cloth.

It is pertinent to mention here that the huge quantity of bed sheet cloth was illegally dumped in the godown. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has registered a case no: 2/2020 against godown owner Aqeel Shehzad.

In-charge Customs I&I team Muhammad Saleem informed Customs Today that the team of intelligence on the directives of Director Muhammad Adnan Akram raided the above said godown. He further said that the poppy seeds were also smuggled due to its high demand. A criminal case has been registered against the owner of the godown for violating Customs Act 1969 he added.

To a query Muhammad Saleem informed this scribe that further investigation are underway in this regard and attempts were being made to arrest the goods owners.

Faisalabad Customs Intelligence has conducted a number of such raids in different areas and markets of the metropolis and recovered smuggled goods including cloth tyres and dry fruits.

It may be mentioned here that customs authorities have several markets under surveillance where the smuggled goods are stored and sold. Customs teams have done this successful raid after getting concrete information about the warehouse from their informer and recovered cloth.
