Mis-declaration: Customs court seeks progress report against M/s Model Paper Board Mills, M/s N.R Enterprises & M/s T.M.I The Mariners

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer to submit progress report against Muhammad Ishaque of M/s Model Paper Board Mills Pvt Ltd, Muhammad Rehan, Nusrat Hussain, partners of customs clearing agent of M/s N.R Enterprises, Syed Irfan Hussain Naqvi of M/s T.M.I The Mariners and others who were nominated in first information report for mega mis-declaration scam.

On 2 September 2020, investigation officer submitted that the above mentioned importers have imported a consignment declared to contain 02 lots of over issued newspaper waste PCT 4707.9090 weight 5241 kg worth Rs968.891 from Greece contrary to actual port of loading Jabel Ali UAE.

He further submitted that the importers in active connivance with their clearing agents and other, co-loader have mis-declared the description classification, quantity, value and origin, of the imported goods by submitting fake, false and fabricated documents, information to evade legitimate of government revenue as well as to dodge import policy restrictions.

Investigation officer stated that during the checking, customs officials recovered 51,000 kg betel nuts, split type air conditioner, model SGS195GE & SGST180E. LED 55’ Model RU7100 brand Samsung Egypt worth Rs10, 227, 680 and evaded the duty and taxes of Rs12,128, 236 and during investigation, they found guilty in the offence of mis-declaration of description, PCT heading quantity and value in order to import banned/ restricted items.
