Lahore I&I impounds 47 NDP vehicles worth Rs187m during August 2023

LAHORE: Under the supervision of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Director General, Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Regional Office, Lahore has seized record  number of non-duty paid and smuggled vehicles during the month of August 2023

Ms. Saima Shahzad, Director – I&I-Customs personally monitored all the operations. Anti smuggling operations were led by Ch. Rizwan Bashir Kalair, Additional Director, who in coordination with other agencies especially DIG CIA Police Lahore, Malik Liaqat Ali formulated joint teams for operations and recovery

The unprecedented crackdown has been carried out against smuggled / non-duty paid / tampered cars and resultantly 47 vehicles have been seized in the month of August, 2023. Previous record of the seizure of highest number of vehicles was 30 vehicles in the month of February 2023 which was made by the same team and now it is exceeded by 57% in the current month.

Seized vehicles include Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prius car, Toyota Aqua, Toyota Passo, Toyota Vitz, Honda Civic, Toyota Mark II, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Alto, Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Premio, Toyota Axio, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Fielder and Toyota Carmry. The value of seized vehicles is Rs.187 million.

Mr. Ali Asad, Deputy Director was incharge of the Customs team comprising Superintendent, Rai Waqar Ahmad, I.O Akmal Shahzad and I.O Ahtisham Naveed  Faiz Ahmad Chadher, Director General appreciated the efforts of Lahore Directorate for putting up the remarkable performance and on achieving the milestone of seizing the highest number of vehicles during a period of one m
