Multan Customs recovers smuggled goods worth Rs70m near Nagshah Road

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Multan, on a tip-off, has  recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods, i.e., LEDs, dry milk, cigarettes, shopping bags and other miscellaneous goods as found stored/dumped in a godown situated near Nagshah Area. The net worth of the seized goods (inclusive of Duty and taxes and the vehicles) is, approximately, Rs.70 million

Sources told Customs Today that on the directives of Collector Dr.Rehmatullah Vistro, Additional Collector Rana Irfan Shoukat and Deputy Collector Hira Touqeer have tightened the monitoring and strengthened the intelligence network to thwart any attempt of moving smuggled goods in the jurisdiction.

An anti-smuggling operation was conducted successfully with the assistance of the Police after the godown was raided. As no documents showing import of the recovered goods were provided, therefore, the goods along with two vehicles as loaded with the smuggled goods were taken into custody by the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization staff after completing all the legal formalities. The net worth of the seized goods (inclusive of Duty and taxes and the vehicles) is, approximately, Rs.70 million.

 Under the supervision of Collector, Superintendent Rana Mujtaba Noon and Inspector Mubashir Hussain has taken successful action against the smugglers from the warehouse located on Nagshah Road and has taken the non-customs paid goods worth of Rs.70 Million into custody and shifted recovered goods to the customs warehouse and started further investigation against warehouse owner .

 Collector Customs Dr. Rahmatullah Wastro appreciated the performance of Superintendent Customs Rana Ghulam Mujtaba Noon and Mubashir Hussain and asked them to continue anti-smuggling operations against smugglers and crackdown should be continued to ensure the restoration and activation of the country’s economy and national industry. The policy of zero-tolerance against smuggling of goods continues unabated.
