Karachi Enforcement recovers smuggled medicines worth Rs250m

KARACHI: Under the dynamic leadership of Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has seized huge quantity of foreign-origin medicines worth Rs250 million. Customs ASO team also registered an FIR against Muhammad Adam who has been arrested in connection with the case.

Sources told Customs Today that after receiving credible information, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement conducted a raid on a warehouse located on Altaf Hussain Road. The operation, led by Syed Muhammad Raza Naqvi, Deputy Collector of Customs, resulted in the recovery of medicines, including brands such as Viagra, Cialis, Centrum, Bortesam, and Xeleac, originating from countries like the USA, KSA, India, and France.

The seized goods, listed as smuggled and contraband assorted high-end medicines, were found in a godown situated at Office No. 102 & 304, Fakhruddin Manzil. The ASO team have taken legal action under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969.

The Collector of Customs Enforcement lauded the outstanding performance of the ASO team and emphasized the need for continued vigilance through strategic planning and teamwork.
