MULTAN: The 324th meeting of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) was held simultaneously at the Federation House, Karachi, and the PCGA House, Multan, under the chairmanship of Dr. Jashumal.
During the meeting, Chairman PCGA, Sohail Mahmood Harl, and former chairman and CEC member, Sham Lal, briefed participants on their recent meetings with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials regarding the elimination of taxes on cotton. They informed the members that the FBR is seriously considering reducing or eliminating these taxes and expressed optimism that the upcoming federal budget might include relief measures to support the cotton industry.
Dr. Jashumal emphasized that the restoration of the cotton crop is directly linked to the removal of burdensome taxes. He reiterated that FBR officials have been convinced that tax relief is essential for reviving the sector and ensuring sustainable growth.
The committee also gave in-principle approval for establishing a PCGA office in Dera Ghazi Khan to strengthen the association’s outreach and support in the region.
The meeting was attended by Senior Vice Chairman Sheikh Fayyaz Ahmed, Vice Chairman Raja Ramesh Kumar Utwani, and CEC members including Rajesh Khushi, Dr. Isrimal, Mahesh Kumar, Sham Lal, Harish Kumar, Chandar Lal, Bhojo Mal, Chaudhry Talib Hussain, Muhammad Habib, Rao Naveed Ahmed, Muhammad Khabeeb Ali Wegel Rehmani, Malik Waseem Akram, Ammar Amjad, and Muhammad Javed Iqbal. Former chairmen Haji Muhammad Akram, Chaudhry Waheed Arshad, and Sohail Mahmood Harl also participated.
The session concluded with Secretary General Zakir Ullah Khaldi reiterating the association’s commitment to advocating for industry-friendly policies and continuing its efforts for the revival of the cotton sector.
