LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has begun compiling a detailed database of individuals and businesses that have repeatedly failed to meet their tax obligations, with special emphasis on chronic defaulters of services tax.

The move was announced during a high-level tax recovery meeting chaired by the PRA Chairman, where enforcement strategies and revenue performance were reviewed. Commissioners and enforcement officials were instructed to meet their assigned registration and tax collection targets within the next two days.

To strengthen on-ground operations, the chairman directed that additional enforcement officers be deployed across multiple districts and posted to newly formed enforcement units.

Officials informed the meeting that recent amendments to PRA laws, along with ongoing reform initiatives, have contributed to a historic rise in tax revenues, indicating stronger compliance and improved enforcement mechanisms. The chairman also ordered full activation of enforcement teams to ensure smooth implementation of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS).

The commissioner Gujranwala was commended for achieving targets on schedule. Divisional commissioners and enforcement officers joined the meeting via video link.
