About 78 NDP Indian tyres taken into possession by Hyderabad Customs

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Hyderabad impounded non-duty-paid 78 Indian origin ceat tyres worth Rs203194 involving duties and taxes of Rs134109 during the month of April 2018.

Sources told Customs Today that Principal Appraiser Customs Intelligence and Investigation Hyderabad Syed Irshad Ali Shah received secret information about the smuggling of NDP ceat tyres made in Indian. He formed a special team, comprising Syed Shafique Ali, Intelligence Officers (IO) and Sepoys and others, which participated in the coordinated action.

The customs team intercepted a vehicle and asked the driver to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of said tyres but he failed to do so. The team took into possession the item and registered a case against the driver.

A contravention report was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
