Accountability Court extends remand of two suspects in Rs 16 billion DHA City scam

LAHORE: Accountability Court on Thursday extended physical remand of Hammad Arshad, owner of Globaco (Private) Limited, and Brigadier (r) Khalid Nazir Butt, former project director of DHA City Lahore, for another 12 days in Rs 16 billion scam.

Earlier, officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced both the suspects before Accountability Court Judge Khaqan Babar in strict security after expiry of their remand term.

The officials submitted that investigations were being carried out from both the accused and further physical remand was required for the purpose. They requested the court to extend the physical remand of both the accused for another 15 days.

However, the Court extended the physical remand of accused for 12 days and directed officials to produce the accused in the court on expiry of their remand term.

NAB arrested Hammad Arshad on charges of corruption and cheating people whereas Brigadier (Retd) Khalid Nazir Butt was arrested on charges of misuse of authority, criminal breach of trust, cheating public at large and misappropriation of funds.
