Accused smuggler served show cause notice for smuggling by DC Saima

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Saima Ayyaz issued a show cause notice to a suspect involved in smuggling of miscellaneous items.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Mianwali, which falls within the jurisdiction of Faisalabad Customs, took into possession a Mazda truck and recovered various goods including almond oil bottles, fuel filters, Cobra sprays and other different brands’ items. So the loaded vehicle was brought to the office of the superintendent.

The customs officials impounded the vehicle and smuggling items under Section 168 of the Customs Act-1969. On the other hand, the ASO authorities forwarded a contravention report to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.

The Customs Adjudication served a notice on the person on the violation of Section 10-A 89 (1) and 156 of the Customs Act-1969. However the adjudication has directed the respondents to file their replies within the given time which is also a last date of hearing.

Deputy Collector issued notice to the accused namely Jabbar Elahi and Brothers through Mianwali ASO. Deputy Collector Saima also ordered the ASO to depute any relevant official to attend the hearing on the scheduled date along with the relevant record.
