ADC Beelam issues notice in smuggled electric wire case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect allegedly involved in smuggling of electric wire involving Rs 1.392 million.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence raided near Jhumra Road, Faisalabad and recovered foreign origin electric wire. The team asked the owner of the goods named Maqsood Traders to show documents regarding legal import of the cables but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the goods under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act and called him to defend the allegations.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
