ADC Beelam issues notice to alleged vehicle smuggler

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in a non-duty paid Toyota Premio car case involving Rs 1.17 million.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation, following information, intercepted a Toyota Premio car bearing Registration No. LEB- 14-1111 coming from Jhang near Jhang Road, Faisalabad.

The team asked the driver of the vehicle named Mohammad Amin to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. Act 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Customs Act, 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why the seized vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law besides penal action as warranted in law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing i.e. October 22 , 2016. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
