ADC Beelam issues notice to owner of non-duty paid vehicle

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in a non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf case worth Rs 1.139 million.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf bearing Registration No. AJKF-8137 near Jumra Road, Faisalabad. The team asked the driver of the vehicle named Mohammad Yousaf to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under customs laws and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Additional Collector Beelam issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156(1)89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and called upon to him to show cause as to why the seized vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law besides penal action as warranted in law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing i.e. October 06, 2016. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
