ADC Beelam serves notices on owners of smuggled fabric, vehicle

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued show-cause notices to the owners of confiscated non-duty paid fabric and vehicle worth Rs 5.177.

The additional collector issued the notice to Muhammad Imran and Abdul Ali for allegedly bringing smuggled fabric and vehicle into Pakistan through illegal routes.

The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted a trailer bearing Registration No. TLQ-768 loaded with 12,890 kilogram of foreign origin grey fabric. The officials confiscated the cloth worth Rs 2.77 million after finding discrepancies in documents.

Meanwhile, Khushab Field Investigation Unit impounded a Toyota Premio car bearing Registration No AAQ-996 (Quetta) involving customs duty and taxes amounting to Rs 2.4 million after the driver failed to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle.

The Customs Intelligence forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings. The adjudication authority also directed the owner to provide evidence otherwise the case will be decided on the basis of evidence available on demand.

The adjudication also directed the Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on the schedule date September 27, 2016 along with relevant record.
